getting started

Mon., Apr. 12, 19, 26 & May 3 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.  $40 plus mat’ls.

  Knitting I - Learn the basics – knit, purl, cast on and bind off in a fun and patient atmosphere.  We’ll make a useful dishcloth as well as a sampler piece.

Mon., May 10, 17 & June 7, 14 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. $40 plus mat'ls.

  Knitting II - For knitters who know how to knit and purl.  We’ll explore pattern reading and pattern stitches, learning additional techniques as we go.  Choose from 2 or 3 easy projects.  Please come in and select project in advance. 

PROJECT CLASSES
PLEASE COME IN AND SELECT MATERIALS IN ADVANCE

Tue., Apr. 13 & 27, May 11 & 25 (every two weeks) from 6:30 to 8:00.  $40 plus mat'ls.

 

Cool Summer Top – An easy pattern for your first knitted garment.  Gauge swatch, adjusting measurements, and pattern reading skills will be covered.  You can see the pattern at www.chicknits.com/catalog/ribbyshell.html.


Tue., Apr. 20, May 4 & 18, and June 1 (every two weeks) from 6:30 to 8:00. $40 plus mat'ls.

  Guided Knitting - Do you have a pattern you'd like to knit but want an experienced knitter by your side? You pick the pattern, I provide the experience. Please come in and discuss project in advance.

Hours as above. $10 per session.

  The Doctor is IN – Have you run into a roadblock?  Can’t figure out what the pattern wording means? Come sit in on Guided Knitting on an as-needed basis.  Please phone in advance. 

TECHNIQUE CLASSES
All classes are $15 unless otherwise noted.

Sat., Apr. 24 and May 1 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. $20.00

  Intro to Crochet – We’ll learn basic crochet techniques to embellish your knitting or whet your appetite for crochet.  Bring light colored worsted weight yarn, size 9 needles, and a size G hook. 

Sat., May 15 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.   Intro to Modular Knitting – Sometimes referred to as “domino knitting”, this technique is worked in small pieces with stitches picked up from previous modules.  Great for color-changing yarns.  Bring 3-4 colors of worsted weight yarn and size 7 or 8 needles

Sat., June 5 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. 

 

  Intro. to Fair Isle Knitting – Incorporate color into your work by alternating two colors in the same row.  We’ll cover single-hand and two-hand techniques and basic chart reading.  You’ll be ready to tackle the Fair Isle pattern you’ve been wanting!  Bring size 8 or 9 needles and two contrasting colors of worsted yarn.  

SOCIAL KNITTING OPPORTUNITIES

SIT ‘N STITCH
No agenda, no lesson plan, just inspiration, companionship, help and encouragement.  Bring your current project and work alongside whoever else is there.  Every Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and/or Friday from 11 am to 1 pm (or thereabouts).


Knitter’s Night Out
  Unwind in the evening with your knitting and great conversation.  Held at the shop between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m.  Come as you are!
